Puglia health authority endorses a screening program for patients at risk of developing hepatocellul

The Department of Internal Medicine, Immunology and Infectious Disease of the University of Bari Medical School, Section of Internal Medicine, has started the enrolment of patients at risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a study supervised by Prof. Gianluigi Giannelli and sponsored by Puglia Health authority. Patients will be monitored during a selected time-frame for the occurrence of HCC biomarkers, including SCCA-IgM and AFP-IgM developed by XEPTAGEN. Puglia is pioneering the management of at risk patients by the use of more efficient screening procedures to detect HCC at an early stage in order to reduce the economic burden associated to late treatment and improve patient quality of life.
