HEPA AFP-IC

ELISA Kit for the detection of Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) Immune Complexes in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

An ELISA assay used to assess the presence of alpha-fetoprotein as circulating immune complexes (AFP-IgM) in Hepatocellular Carcinoma patient sera. In HCC patients, AFP-IgM is found with a sensitivity close to 60% and specificity to 100% over normal. Since AFP-IgM and free AFP detection does not overlap, the combination of the two biomarkers can raise sensitivity to 80%.

The combination of both AFP-IgM and free AFP, the only currently used biomarker in routine liver disease diagnostics, can be useful in clinical practice for the early diagnosis of primary liver cancer.
